I didn't post my drabbles from the last two [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay fests that I participated in, so I'm going to fix that now.

From 12/5/10, the theme was "Texts From Last Night"

Prompt: Chapel, Gaila - I feel like I should put "don't judge me" in the special instructions for the pizza guy.
Proper Tipping Procedure, Chapel/Gaila, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Pike, Kirk - I just want to let you know it was a unanimous decision that we would eat you first if we ever turned into cannibals, we figured with all the bacon you eat you may taste like it. It's a chance we are willing to take with your life...don't forget that we love you
Plans and Schemes, Pike/Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - Nah, I'm just going to keep fucking him until he realizes we're perfect for each other.
Beating Around the Bush... If You Know What I Mean, Kirk/McCoy, Uhura, R )

From 12/12/10, with the theme "perfumes" comes...

This week's theme was squicks. Prompts were both squicks that the prompter has as well as things the prompter likes that other people often find squicky.

Being unable to leave well enough alone I simply had to turn two of the prompts on their ears. I love Uhura and tend not to find the "Uhura is a total bitch for no apparent reason" fics as well as the "McCoy is a wuss who must always be saved and never do the saving" trope to not be my cup of tea, so I toyed with those "squicks" a bit. I know, I know, perhaps not what the prompter intended (or maybe it was?) but since this comm is a free-for-all comm rather than a gift or wish fulfillment comm, I figure it's okay to risk not interpreting the prompts as intended. My cup of tea is not your cup of tea and vice versa.

My contributions were as follows:

Prompt: Uhura, Author's Choice - Bitch!Uhura
Authority; Uhura, OC, Kirk, PG )

***

Prompt: Kirk, Spock, McCoy - Weak!McCoy
A Man of Many Talents; McCoy/Kirk/Spock, R )

***

Prompt: Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura – Affairs
Imagination; Uhura/McCoy/Kirk/Spock, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Sarek, Amanda - Pon farr
Fully Informed; Sarek/Amanda, PG-13 )

***

I don't know why I write cutesy Sarek/Amanda. They weren't cutesy in the movie, so I have no idea where it's coming from. I like it though ;)

So I decided that finishing this and baking cookies would cheer me up. It helped.

Title: The Many Kisses of Jim and Bones
Fandom: Star Trek Reboot
Pairing: Kirk/McCoy
Rating: PG-13
Length: ~2500 words
Warnings: Mild sexual references, language, coerced public kissing, ridiculousness
Disclaimer: Sadly not mine, merely borrowed.
Summary: Seven kisses Jim and Leonard had to perform in public and one that was in private, and simply for themselves.
A/N: Written from a prompt from [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones featuring two pictures of kissing. I'm considering this fic a loosely-connected sequel to Just Warming Up, a previous Kirk and McCoy kissing fic. Also, a cookie to anyone who catches the LARP reference, unsubtle though it may be.

Late posting these to my own journal. Ah well. The week's theme was submissions to the My Life Is Average website. Once again I wound up having my own little mini-theme within the prompts I snagged and it was apparently academy fic.

Prompt: Uhura, Gaila - Today I realized that Build-A-Bear's slogan is "Where best friends are made." I found that quite sad.
The Start of a Beautiful Friendship; Uhura, Gaila (background Spock/Uhura), PG, warnings: character death )

****

Prompt: McCoy, Joanna - Today my 2yr old daughter said her first knock knock joke. She said "knock knock" I said "who's there?" she said "me"
Knock, Knock; Kirk, McCoy, Joanna, PG )

****

Prompt: Kirk, Uhura - Today, I was driving through the canyon when I passed a sign that said, "Falling rocks". In between the two words, someone had written "in love", so it now read "Falling in love rocks."
Expressing Oneself; Kirk/Uhura, PG )
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Lovely Uhura)
Spent part of my evening eating my mother's delicious potato salad and making dipped shortbread cookies. *nom nom nom*

I also finished reading a book in a series that I enjoy by Ilona Andrews (paranormal urban fantasy sort of thing with magic, vampires, shapeshifters/weres, etc) called Magic Bleeds. Most of my reading-for-enjoyment lately has been online fanfic, so my actual paper-book reading has suffered. It's nice to have read, finished, and enjoyed a "real" book. I'm thinking of reading Mansfield Park next.

My two [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay offerings are below. This week's theme was: AU

I find AUs challenging. Not in an "I hate them and never want to do them" way, since I actually do really like reading them, but in an "Oh stars this is hard way. Practice, practice, practice, right? This will make two of my WIPs rather challenging, however, as they are AUs...

Anyways, allons-y!

***

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - AU in which Jim has a twin (Sam)
Possibilities; McCoy, Kirk, Sam Kirk, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Pike, Kirk, McCoy - Jane Austen-ish AU
Elegance and Expectations; McCoy, Uhura, (Pike/Kirk/McCoy), PG )

***

I'm working tomorrow but then have three days off - woo!

Also, anyone up for a beta? Star Trek, Pike/McCoy, R(ish), short(ish)
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Lovely Uhura)
Well, though I got canceled for part of my shift I've just found out I've got to drag myself in for the rest of it. I was able to get some sleep today, so that's a plus.

[livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay ficlets below! This week's theme was Spring!

Prompt: McCoy, Joanna - Playing in the sprinklers
Family Matters; Kirk/McCoy, Joanna, G )

***
Prompt: Uhura, Gaila – Butterflies
Jeweltones; Uhura/Gaila, G )

***
Prompt: Pike, McCoy - Spring Fever
Spring Fever; Pike/McCoy, R, (Yeah, it's a wee bit porny) )

***

And now I am going to get ready for work and pack my lunch up. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go...

PS: Anyone want to write me Kirk/McCoy comment fic/comment porn to cheer me up when I get home in the morning?
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Boldy Go)

I think it's pretty safe to say I had an excellent time at B2S this week. So many fun and moving drabbles and ficlets to read and good times writing, too.
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Boldy Go)
I survived the long week last week and then I had a nice weekend filled with good friends and laughing and video games. I am in a good mood :)

On to the ficlets! This weeks theme was body parts. Don't worry, I mostly behaved myself.

Prompt: Spock, McCoy - Fingertips

Exploration, Spock/McCoy, R(ish) )

***

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - Knuckles

Dependable, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Sulu, Uhura - Palm

Slide, Sulu, Uhura, PG )

***

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - Nape of the Neck

Unfair Advantage, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13) )

***

I am working next weekend, so limited B2S, if any at all. Sadness. But at least I'll have something nice to read when I get home :) Someone write porn, ok? Cuz that would be very pleasant to come home to.
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Boldy Go)
I finally wrote Kirk/McCoy again! It's been a while and I've definitely missed them.

This week's theme was leftovers (as in prompts remaining from previous rounds). My drabbles and ficlets are below.

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - I would rather be ashes than dust! / I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.

Flash, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )

***

Kirk, McCoy - I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

Under My Skin, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Pike, Kirk - ... but I want instead to see if you yourself will pass this way.

A Man of Worth, Pike, Kirk, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Spock, Uhura - All you add is love.

Jitters, Spock/Uhura, G )

***

In addition to drabbling tonight I also managed to make a HUGE pot of lemony cream of chicken & rice soup. It turned out so well, and now I have some in the fridge and tons in the freezer for easy meals this week.
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Lovely Uhura)
So tonight's activities resulted in two [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay ficlets and a batch of seriously delicious chocolate cookies.

The B2S theme for this week was poetry quotes.

I wasn't familiar with either of the quotes when I read them at the comm, so the fics were inspired by the line(s) alone. I googled the poems after the fact to find out where the lines came from.

To Share a Journey, Gaila/Pike, PG )

***

Warmth, Spock/Uhura, G )

***

So, yes. I feel absurdly proud to have produced anything at all tonight. I've been struggling all week, wanting write and yet not typing a single keystroke. So yes, glad to have anything at all to show for my weekend :)

My cookies are excellent as well :) Far more polished an attempt than the ficlets, by far :) I used a recipe recommended by [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl which can be found here only without using the buttercream to make them into sandwiches. I've found that while I adore the cookie part itself, I stink at making buttercream frosting (when I tried the recipe originally it wouldn't stiffen up and was gooey and messy and grainy and just overall terrible). So I left it out and nommed nicely tonight on lovely chocolate coffee cookies. Half the batch is tucked away into the cookie jar and the other half is packed up to take to work for my coworkers to descend upon like a ravening horde.

***

Back to [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay for a moment. A couple of my prompts were posted but not filled. I am reposting them here to a) hopefully encourage someone to write them for me *pleading eyes* or, if need be, b) remember them for some undisclosed time in the future to try out myself.

~Pike, Kirk or McCoy, Kirk - Follow me ever - desert me not while I live. (Ashes of Soldiers by Walt Whitman)

~Author's Choice - The sun and moon get crossed, but they never touch (On Looking Up By Chance at the Constellations by Robert Frost)

~Spock, Uhura - Your soul is oftentimes a battlefield, upon which your reason and your judgment wage war against passion and your appetite. (Reason & Passion by Khalil Gibran)

~Winona, Pike - I could've died for love - But for livin' I was born (Life is Fine by Langston Hughes)
bluegeek: (Default)
I'm in a rather down mood tonight, but by the end of reading this week's fills I was starting to feel a bit better. Interestingly, 3 out of my 4 fills were rather cheerful, in opposition to my mood. Go figure.

This week's prompts were picture prompts. I've included them with the fic.

Onwards...

The Brightness of the Day; Kirk, Ensemble, PG )

~~~
Artistic Expression; Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )
~~~

Retreat; McCoy/Uhura, PG )

~~~
Without Words; Kirk/Uhura, PG, reference to character death )
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Lovely Uhura)
I answered four prompts for last Sunday's B2S drabblefest. I was definitely heavy on the Kirk/McCoy pairing which I adore so very much.
I am really enjoying reading and writing in this community. Even when I can't get a word down on screen for any of my WiPs I have still managed to have a blast with the drabbles. Less stress, perhaps? Two of WiPs have the potential to be monsters, so maybe I'm just overwhelmed?
Note: All drabbles/ficlets are left (pretty much) as is. So far I've resisted messing with them after posting them to [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay so that I don't make myself insane. Aka, unbetaed and rough(ish).
Prompt: Author's Choice - No, it's not regret, just remembrance, is all / Of how close we had come / The war almost won / But I sent up our flag and moved on (Vienna Teng)
Surrender; Kirk/McCoy, PG )
**
Prompt: Kirk/Author's Choice - I'm only happy when it rains, I'm only happy when its complicated (Garbage)
Complicated; Kirk/McCoy, PG )
**
Prompt: Kirk/McCoy OR Sulu/Chekov - But you, my brother in arms, I'd rather I'd lose my life than let you come to harm. (Decemberists)
Eyes on the Prize; Ensemble, hint of Kirk/McCoy, PG )
**
Prompt: McCoy/Author's Choice - Georgia, Georgia / No peace, no peace I find / Just this old, sweet song / Keeps Georgia on my mind (Ray Charles)
Peace I've Found; McCoy/Uhura, PG )
**
Hmmm, first time I've ever written McCoy/Uhura. I find I rather like them. At the very least Uhura fit best for the idea I had, it just felt right somehow.
Still, can't beat Kirk/McCoy for top place in my heart and affections.
