bluegeek: (Star Trek - Lovely Uhura)
Spent part of my evening eating my mother's delicious potato salad and making dipped shortbread cookies. *nom nom nom*

I also finished reading a book in a series that I enjoy by Ilona Andrews (paranormal urban fantasy sort of thing with magic, vampires, shapeshifters/weres, etc) called Magic Bleeds. Most of my reading-for-enjoyment lately has been online fanfic, so my actual paper-book reading has suffered. It's nice to have read, finished, and enjoyed a "real" book. I'm thinking of reading Mansfield Park next.

My two [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay offerings are below. This week's theme was: AU

I find AUs challenging. Not in an "I hate them and never want to do them" way, since I actually do really like reading them, but in an "Oh stars this is hard way. Practice, practice, practice, right? This will make two of my WIPs rather challenging, however, as they are AUs...

Anyways, allons-y!

I'm working tomorrow but then have three days off - woo!

Also, anyone up for a beta? Star Trek, Pike/McCoy, R(ish), short(ish)

I'm working on a fic. It started as a lighthearted mildly smutty drabble. It changed into a serious actual fic. Not quite sure how, though I can identify my original inspiration.

I could use a beta. Definitely for the typical spelling/grammer/stupid mistakes/etc stuff, but also especially for a privilege check, since the fic deals with recovering from and living with a disability. I have done research, both using medical texts/studies and reading personal accounts, but I am still an abled author attempting to write about a disabled character experiencing a trauma that really does exist and affects people today (spinal cord injury, specifically). More than wanting to post a fic that I like and want to share, I don't want to hurt actual people out there with an unintentional but but still-hurtful interpretation of situations and/or experiences that I've never had myself.

So yeah, anyone feel up for/interested in being a reality check?

Fic details: Star Trek fandom, slash, rated adult.

So I think I'm going to have to put the finishing touches on it tomorrow because I'm exhausted and still recovering from the plague (or, you know, allergies with a side order of intense hypochondriacal drama). But yay! Creativity!

Anyone wanna act as a beta? It's a fairly lighthearted 5+1 fic with a bit of McCoy/Jocelyn and winding up with suggestion of McCoy/Spock and inspired by this kink meme prompt. I'm anticipating around 2500-3500 words, but haven't yet brandished the red pen delete key of doom yet.

Please?

Beta?

Is anyone available and willing to beta a Star Trek reboot fic? It's Jim/Bones, PG-13(ish) rating, and I expect it to be 4000+ words when I get done with hacking away at it. I know some people hate 'em, so I will tell you now that it is a 5+1 style fic. There is a mix of angst, light humor, schmoop, kidfic, and ridiculousness in it.
