I think it's pretty safe to say I had an excellent time at B2S this week. So many fun and moving drabbles and ficlets to read and good times writing, too.
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Lovely Uhura)
So I didn't participate in B2S much this week. I tried making something new for dinner (and it turned out rather yummy) and ate with my family, then spent a round or two without anyu ideas for the prompts, finally wrote one, and then missed the rest when I was lured out by a friend for drinks and dessert. Mmmm, creme brulee.

Anyways. This week's theme was: games

Prompt: Kirk, Gaila - 52 Pick Up
A Little Healthy Competition, Kirk, Gaila, PG-13 )
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Boldy Go)
I got a little... out of hand tonight. For some reason the song title theme and resultant prompts really worked for me tonight inspiration-wise and I wanted to dive all over several of them.

So here we go...

Prompt: Kirk, Joanna - Ask for Answers
Ask a Silly Question, Kirk/McCoy, Joanna, G )

***

Prompt: Chekov, Joanna - She Blinded Me With Science
Boom, Chekov, Joanna, PG )

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - If You Don't Know Me by Now
Not a Walk on the Beach, Kirk/McCoy, R )

In other news, I'm starting to feel better - yay! Only the medication I'm on makes me WIRED, meaning not a lot of sleep - boo! But breathing is good. I strongly support breathing.

In other, other news, my birthday is tomorrow! Now, my sister and I have already kinda sorta celebrated our bdays since she went back to Iowa today, but I imagine my parents and I will have dinner tomorrow or something.

I was thinking about doing that reverse gifting thing where, for my birthday, anyone who wants one would give me a prompt and I would write a drabble/ficlet for them. Is there interest out there were I to do that tomorrow?
bluegeek: (Writing)
I wrote 2 ficlets for tonights B2S, then got a phone call and was distracted from the rest of the prompting. Ah well.

Prompt: Winona, McCoy - Comparing Notes

Common Ground, Kirk/McCoy, Winona, PG )

***

Winona, Frank - Goodbye, Little Dream, Goodbye

Goodbye and Hello, Winona/Frank, Winona/George, PG )
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Boldy Go)
I survived the long week last week and then I had a nice weekend filled with good friends and laughing and video games. I am in a good mood :)

On to the ficlets! This weeks theme was body parts. Don't worry, I mostly behaved myself.

Prompt: Spock, McCoy - Fingertips

Exploration, Spock/McCoy, R(ish) )

***

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - Knuckles

Dependable, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Sulu, Uhura - Palm

Slide, Sulu, Uhura, PG )

***

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - Nape of the Neck

Unfair Advantage, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13) )

***

I am working next weekend, so limited B2S, if any at all. Sadness. But at least I'll have something nice to read when I get home :) Someone write porn, ok? Cuz that would be very pleasant to come home to.
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Boldy Go)
I finally wrote Kirk/McCoy again! It's been a while and I've definitely missed them.

This week's theme was leftovers (as in prompts remaining from previous rounds). My drabbles and ficlets are below.

Prompt: Kirk, McCoy - I would rather be ashes than dust! / I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.

Flash, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )

***

Kirk, McCoy - I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

Under My Skin, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Pike, Kirk - ... but I want instead to see if you yourself will pass this way.

A Man of Worth, Pike, Kirk, PG-13 )

***

Prompt: Spock, Uhura - All you add is love.

Jitters, Spock/Uhura, G )

***

In addition to drabbling tonight I also managed to make a HUGE pot of lemony cream of chicken & rice soup. It turned out so well, and now I have some in the fridge and tons in the freezer for easy meals this week.
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Lovely Uhura)
So tonight's activities resulted in two [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay ficlets and a batch of seriously delicious chocolate cookies.

The B2S theme for this week was poetry quotes.

I wasn't familiar with either of the quotes when I read them at the comm, so the fics were inspired by the line(s) alone. I googled the poems after the fact to find out where the lines came from.

To Share a Journey, Gaila/Pike, PG )

***

Warmth, Spock/Uhura, G )

***

So, yes. I feel absurdly proud to have produced anything at all tonight. I've been struggling all week, wanting write and yet not typing a single keystroke. So yes, glad to have anything at all to show for my weekend :)

My cookies are excellent as well :) Far more polished an attempt than the ficlets, by far :) I used a recipe recommended by [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl which can be found here only without using the buttercream to make them into sandwiches. I've found that while I adore the cookie part itself, I stink at making buttercream frosting (when I tried the recipe originally it wouldn't stiffen up and was gooey and messy and grainy and just overall terrible). So I left it out and nommed nicely tonight on lovely chocolate coffee cookies. Half the batch is tucked away into the cookie jar and the other half is packed up to take to work for my coworkers to descend upon like a ravening horde.

Back to [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay for a moment. A couple of my prompts were posted but not filled. I am reposting them here to a) hopefully encourage someone to write them for me *pleading eyes* or, if need be, b) remember them for some undisclosed time in the future to try out myself.

~Pike, Kirk or McCoy, Kirk - Follow me ever - desert me not while I live. (Ashes of Soldiers by Walt Whitman)

~Author's Choice - The sun and moon get crossed, but they never touch (On Looking Up By Chance at the Constellations by Robert Frost)

~Spock, Uhura - Your soul is oftentimes a battlefield, upon which your reason and your judgment wage war against passion and your appetite. (Reason & Passion by Khalil Gibran)

~Winona, Pike - I could've died for love - But for livin' I was born (Life is Fine by Langston Hughes)
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Boldy Go)
...and I was late in arriving, but still managed to pull off a couple ficlets. This weeks theme was "Seasons and/or Seasonal Traditions." My stories are as follows:

Decorated, George/Winona, G )

***

Memorial Day, Pike, Kirk, PG )

***

April Fools, Kirk, Scotty, PG-13, pretty cracky and ridiculous )

I'm in a rather down mood tonight, but by the end of reading this week's fills I was starting to feel a bit better. Interestingly, 3 out of my 4 fills were rather cheerful, in opposition to my mood. Go figure.

This week's prompts were picture prompts. I've included them with the fic.

Onwards...

The Brightness of the Day; Kirk, Ensemble, PG )

~~~
Artistic Expression; Kirk/McCoy, PG-13 )
Retreat; McCoy/Uhura, PG )
Without Words; Kirk/Uhura, PG, reference to character death )
I tried to multitask tonight during bridge2sickbay, since I can't just devote a 4 hour chunk of every Sunday to writing alone (sadly :( ). It didn't turn out so well. I did manage to produce 2 ficlets, do 2 loads of laundry, and steam some veggies for lunch tomorrow, but I burned dinner tonight by getting distracted and had trouble focusing on writing and really only got inspiration for those 2 prompts.
Next weekend is a work weekend, so I don't think I'll be able to participate then, but hopefully I can get back into the swing of things the weekend after.
The two ficlets produced tonight were both Chekov/Sulu, which is unusual for me, but who am I to complain ;) Without further ado...
Prompt: Sulu/Chekov - I've got no illusions about you, and guess what? I never did. (Ani DiFranco)
Truth; Sulu/Chekov, PG-13) )
**
Prompt: Sulu/Chekov - If I knew the way, I would take you home. (Grateful Dead)
Hail Mary, In Space; Sulu/Chekov, PG-13 )
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Lovely Uhura)
I answered four prompts for last Sunday's B2S drabblefest. I was definitely heavy on the Kirk/McCoy pairing which I adore so very much.
I am really enjoying reading and writing in this community. Even when I can't get a word down on screen for any of my WiPs I have still managed to have a blast with the drabbles. Less stress, perhaps? Two of WiPs have the potential to be monsters, so maybe I'm just overwhelmed?
Note: All drabbles/ficlets are left (pretty much) as is. So far I've resisted messing with them after posting them to [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay so that I don't make myself insane. Aka, unbetaed and rough(ish).
Prompt: Author's Choice - No, it's not regret, just remembrance, is all / Of how close we had come / The war almost won / But I sent up our flag and moved on (Vienna Teng)
Surrender; Kirk/McCoy, PG )
**
Prompt: Kirk/Author's Choice - I'm only happy when it rains, I'm only happy when its complicated (Garbage)
Complicated; Kirk/McCoy, PG )
**
Prompt: Kirk/McCoy OR Sulu/Chekov - But you, my brother in arms, I'd rather I'd lose my life than let you come to harm. (Decemberists)
Eyes on the Prize; Ensemble, hint of Kirk/McCoy, PG )
**
Prompt: McCoy/Author's Choice - Georgia, Georgia / No peace, no peace I find / Just this old, sweet song / Keeps Georgia on my mind (Ray Charles)
Peace I've Found; McCoy/Uhura, PG )
**
Hmmm, first time I've ever written McCoy/Uhura. I find I rather like them. At the very least Uhura fit best for the idea I had, it just felt right somehow.
Still, can't beat Kirk/McCoy for top place in my heart and affections.
bluegeek: (Star Trek - Boldy Go)
This is the second [livejournal.com profile] bridge2sickbay in which I've participated and the 2nd & 3rd overall ficlets I've written for the community. Sadly I've either been working or otherwise engaged during most of the past several months' Sundays, making it tough to get involved. Fortunately, though I arrived after prompt post #4 yesterday, I did manage to create two ficlets, posted below.
The prompt for the first was Sarek/Amanda - Pets
Logic, Sarek/Amanda, G )
The second prompt was Kirk/McCoy - Denial
This isn't exactly a happy fic, but hopefully one that is somewhat true to character (20 min isn't a ton of time to beta oneself for OOCness, at least for me) in a bad situation. I'll be up front on this - it didn't spring up completely from the prompt, but is actually a scene I'd planned (very, very roughly in the form of a few scattered and incomplete sentences in my outline) for a WiP I'm semi-working on that stems from a very old [livejournal.com profile] st_xi_kink prompt. I felt the prompt lent itself to the scene well, so I ran with it using my half-formed ideas of what I wanted the scene to look like, and this is what I came up with in 20 min or so. Should I ever complete the darn fic (which does, indeed, give me fits) this scene will require expansion and massive clean-up, but for the moment it has at least served to vault me back into writing something.
Denial As A Saving Grace, Kirk/McCoy, PG-13, angsty )
