Happy birthday to me!
Today was a whirlwind of more socializing than I typically do in a week. H came over last night and we watched Death Note until laaaaaate, at which point she decided to stay over. We had breakfast and watched more Death Note this morning until J came over. We've nearly finished season 2, and of course had to stop right near the climax and I am in AGONY wondering what's going to happen next (no spoilers in the comments please!)
J and I went to a lovely special sandwich restaurant and had an amazing lunch of BLT soup and fancy sandwiches. We talked and caught up and it was all wonderful, topped off by Bailey's Irish cream bread pudding with Bailey's ice cream. Nom nom nom.
After that I did a little price shopping for a new dishwasher, which wasn't a lot of fun, but at least makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something (oh yeah, my house continues to break. Constantly. And frustratingly).
I had dinner with my parents - Mmmmmm steak. I love my mommy :-D My parents have offered to help me fix/replace my flooring once I get the various leaks/mold/etc problems dealt with as I think at this point the flooring in the kitchen is going to be a loss. My father asked me repeatedly if I am really 28 now, and just seemed rather gobsmacked each time that I responded in the affirmative.
Finally, I met up with a friend from middle/high school who is visiting from California, and we had lemonade and s'mores as we caught up. I stayed out too late considering I have work tomorrow and have little useful food in the house to make for lunch, but I had a lovely time.
Oh, and my sister called me to wish me a happy day. I shall be calling her tomorrow to do the same, which seems silly to people who are not us since, why not wish her a happy birthday today since we're on the phone already, but that is not how it works for us - she gets her own special call :-D We also made plans for us to surprise my mom with a special breakfast the day before mother's day since my sister will be able to fly out for a very very brief trip before she starts her rotations this summer.
Whew, what a day. A lovely, lovely day.
