Dear
shackinup_sesa Secret Santa...
Nov. 14th, 2005 08:14 pmI know the assignments were sent out a while ago, however if you happen to be a procrastinator like me and haven't begun writing yet, then read on to get an idea of the inner workings of my brain when it comes to Remus and Sirius...
I love the MWPP and pre-azkaban era. Love it. It is far and away my favorite time period to read in fanfics. I love the banter, the playfulness, the comraderie, and the pranks. I love the possibilities and the hope of that period. I even love the heartbreak of that era. Since I'm still mourning over the recent October angst and sadness fics celebrating the sad times in the fandom, I'd love to read a happier, more hopeful fic. Even if you want to go more sad and/or thoughtful, a glimmer of hope, or even sarcastic optimism would be greatly appreciated.
James and Lily, for me, are the ultimate het OTP, canon or otherwise. I love them. I love them most when they are getting along and dating or almost there (but still experiencing the teasing and unresolved sexual tension stage), but I also enjoy the pining!James and long suffering Lily. If they could make an appearance I'd enjoy it.
As for Peter. I won't lie and say I'm fond of him particularly, because I find it hard to get past the betrayal, but I also firmly believe that there was good in him at some point and not just a simpering deceitful little jerk. I don't think the mpp would have been friends with him if he were so obviously stupid or evil from the start. I don't mind if you choose to leave him out altogether, or only give him a single line or passing mention. Just please don't make him horrible and evil and stupid unless there is a very good reason (ie if you write in the time period immediately before the death of James and Lily then I'd expect deceit and stuff like that).
I'm not wild about emo!mwpp, self-harm, humiliation, character death unless for a very good reason and well written, etc... I adore humor, banter, sarcasm, irony, fluff, hopeful situations, bittersweet situations, and foreshadowing (in a good/happy way).
Smut. If you are a smut writer, much love. If not, also much love. I'd love to receive some good smut. I'm particularly into frantic wall!sex, rushed-for-time smut, secret/could-be-caught-so-must-be-quiet-about-it smut. I also like the sweet, romantic, simple smut too. As far as kinks go I haven't completely fleshed out what I like and don't like, so if you want to err on the side of caution, feel free - vanilla is great. I know I'm not at all into the more "extreme" kinks like scat, waterplay, blood stuff, humiliation, major pain. The only "odd" kink I've discovered so far is train!sex. Not exactly the most workable option in this fandom, I realize, so feel free to ignore that little TMI. If you want to allude to the smut only, or even leave it out altogether, that's awesome too :) I love gen because it so often allows the chance for more characters and more humor and interaction.
Seems like I'm writing a book, and I'll admit I kinda did. This is, however, YOUR story and you will be happiest writing what you want/write best. I'll read and enjoy anyways. I don't expect every little thing above to be followed, or even considered for that matter. Write what works for you :) That's how the best fic gets made.
