Have you read fic that hurts? Not hurts in the way that leaves you in tears and makes you want to curl up in bed and just breathe and think it out of you. But hurts in the way that is immensely cathartic and open and deliciously like that first stretch of tight muscles in the morning? "Hurts so good" I guess you could call it?

Anybody feel like sharing their "hurts so good" favorites?

That's my favorite kind of fic! Ahh, not that I can think of any off the top of my head. *ponders*

Yes! My favorite kind of fic, tbh.

There's a wonderful fic along these lines at FF.Net.

Secret Garden by Mijan. Oh, my heart just breaks for Jim in this and I came away hurting, but it was a good hurt.

Two I remember. I haven't reread any of them yet.

One is Written by the Victors by Speranza(Stargate, includes slash pairings). It's very epic story that hurts a lot, but leaves you sort of feeling content by the end.
The second is The Water Grinds the Stone by one of the best authors Auburn (Stargate as well, slash pairings). This is a bit more positive you could say but still hurts so much.

I think I read some in the Nu!Trek fandom too, but I can't remember them at the moment.

Here's one where Sherlock has a brain tumor. It hurts because it is so, so well-written. Alone On the Water by [livejournal.com profile] madlorific
